Working with Worry (Video)
I just got off phone with a great entrepreneur who had submitted an application for an SBA loan and hasn’t heard a peep from anybody yet. Needless to say, it’s constantly on her mind and she’s worried.
I shared with her a technique I learned from conscious leadership called “what’s in your control?”
The technique asks you to do three things:
· Define the issue that worries you;
· Define what you can and can’t control;
· Take action on what you can control;
I told the entrepreneur she couldn’t control her thoughts or emotions. She might try but would likely become even more frustrated. However, she could control how she reacts to them.
Conscious leadership recommends letting your emotions flow: if you’re sad, feel sad. If you’re angry, feel angry.
What I learned today is that we can’t control the emotions, but we can, perhaps, control what we do with them. Tell me how you’re working with the worry that comes in tough situations.
Sincerely,
