Purpose-Fed Energy Attracts Others to Your Business
My good friend Jeff Byers at Momentous is a former NFL player who is all about high performance. His co-founder, Erica Good, is a world-class downhill skier of some of the biggest mountains in the world. We’re talking about two high-energy people. So, who do you think they attract to their supplement company to share in their mission of “democratizing high performance” by helping more ordinary people achieve extraordinary things?
A personal friend and great guy I worked with at Garden of Life, Jordan Rubin, was all about extraordinary health. And at the time, he focused on gut health and told the story of its importance so passionately, he was able to build a whole company that went on to serve millions of people, powering extraordinary health.
The whole point is that your energy that comes from your purpose is what's attractive. And until you really nail what your purpose is, it's hard to harness that energy, but when you harness it, you could be like Yvon Chouinard at Patagonia. Look at the difference they're making in the world. Or how about the guys who started Black Rifle Coffee. Founded in 2014 by US Army Green Beret Evan Hafer, the company describes itself as “a Veteran-founded business operated by principled men and women who honor those who protect, defend and support our country.” Black Rifle hires veterans, trains them to become entrepreneurs in their own rights.”
Tyler Merrick at Joyride is cranking on his business of making the world a “sweeter place” by “reimagining candy” without the sugar or artificial sweeteners. That’s right: he’s making vegan candy and the colorful packets are selling all over the country. Who do you think he's attracting to his game-changing business?
We're all about radically evolving capitalism from the inside. We're going out of our way to attract people who care about those things and want to do these things. So when you harness your purpose and you harness your energy, you'll attract those people who are attracted to your purpose and the collective energy just grows.
“As a rule, I have found that bold and impactful leaders radiate an energy that drives them powerfully toward their mission in life,” ScalePassion life coach Nick Van Nice. “Their energy is so resonant it lights up whatever conversation, project, or gathering they join. It becomes highly contagious.”
Think about the things you find yourself talking about, thinking about, or reading about the most, and you’ll know where your energy should be directed. This is the key step not only to harnessing your own energy but also attracting others, and their energy, to your cause. And we’re always here to give you a push!
