What to Expect from ScalePassion at Expo West
Next stop … Anaheim! As a CEO or investor, I’ve always loved the trip out west, participating in Expo West and meeting up with business leaders who are changing the world with their passion. This year, I have the added pleasure of delivering a keynote on Tuesday morning called “On Purpose: Harnessing Your Why to Lead with Clarity, Courage, and Connection.”
We wanted to use this session to create immediate value for the audience, so I’m devoting most of it to interviews with Paul Lightfoot, the GM of Patagonia Provisions, and board chair of Regenerative Organic Alliance, and Courtney Pineau, executive director of The Climate Collaborative. Together, we’ll swap stories, share practical exercises and get the audience involved in answering the question, “Why do I exist?”
I wrote my book Scale Passion: A Blueprint for Building Purpose-Driven Businesses because I was bursting with a passion to help fix capitalism by impacting as many business leaders as I could—far more than I could ever meet—so they could scale their business’s purpose and make a difference.
That same passion is what leads me to the podium at Expo, where my goal is to have every single person in attendance walk away strengthened in their resolve, nourished in their spirit and assured in their commitment to lead authentically. I think we’ve got a real shot at accomplishing this. After all, we’re taking a page out of our book, and it’s getting great early reviews. Let me share one with you from Andrew Brandeis: “You can make money with any business, but the reason behind the business will determine the impact it has for you, your employees, your customers, and the world….This is a must-read for business owners who give a sh*t.”
So, I’ll see you at 8am in the Marriott Marquis Ballroom Center. We’ll provide the pencil and note paper. You bring your dreams and your curiosity. That’s really all you need.
